„At the core of BONYLAB is writing. In the months that we were working on the show, it was always clear that the very matter of it was a story, and its physical unraveling. In particular, it was the form of movie writing, and the kind of world-building behind it that we looked at, the cosmology-making it allows for. Like a logical compass, the movie has been our structure, a regulator for continuous linguistic negotiations, for the choral machine that came to be at Husslehof. A script then, is what we started from. This publication is where we land at a final stage. In a circular process, the urgency to keep questioning the idea of narrative and its embodied restitution, brought us to seek one last output: a new text.

For BONYLAB – Takeover in three movements we selected three sequences from our original script, relevant for different reasons, and assigned one to each of our invited writers, Olga, Anna and Viola. We asked them to look into these passages only through the relative storyboard scene and track of the score, and to write three standalone pieces, challenging them to rework material that was inherently partial and non text based. The result is a remixing endeavor revealing details and fragments of the story under a new light, a takeover through different writing approaches and perspectives.
Moving through poetic re-imaginations of the characters’ point of view, takes on contemporary storytelling and reflections over the dynamics of power and desire, the story expands its reach in the hands of new authors.“
