Waving to My Friends on Airplanes captures a fleeting moment of connection and hope for a temporary relationship. So far, only one person has responded to my wave.

In this work, timing is crucial. At Frankfurt Airport, planes take off or land every 41 seconds during peak times.
Before each wave, thorough research is conducted to determine the exact flight path, weather conditions, cloud levels, and wind direction.
Once the correct airplane has been identified, there is often only 40 to 60 seconds remaining for the performing of the wave. The wave and its documentation follow a precise sequence of actions. The airplane must be visually fixed, the camera prepared, and zoomed in on the passing aircraft. The image section must be continuously aligned to the relative airspeed through panning. The aircraft is filmed for several seconds, then the image section is zoomed out to its maximum. The free arm is then waved exaggeratedly at the aircraft for several seconds.

Daily training to refine waving technique is advised.
